Bang Niew Shrine or Tao Boo Keng shrine or Thep Rasi Foundation was an ancient shrine since 1904. Villagers called Tao Boo Keng shrine or Chai Tueng. It was known that Kang Chai Tueng Chinese opera traveled from China to perform at Soi Ma Kao (Soi Rommanee at present). At that time, there was a shrine here and Pra Tien Hoo Nguan Soy (Lao Ien) was brought to make merit and started Vegetarian festival till the villagers were faithful and took part in many ceremonies.
After that, there was a fire at the shrine and no one knew the cause of this incident. Then, a group of villagers took Pra Tien Hoo Nguan Soy (Lao Ien) to install at Bang Niew shrine and assisted to rebuild the shrine, wooden with thatch roof.
4-5 years later, a fire occurred without any cause again. Then, villagers brought Pra Tien Hoo Nguan Soy (Lao Ien) to place at the opposite site of the fired place. Bang Niew Villagers were greatly faithful, made merit and held vegetarian festival every year. This caused the place too narrow for people joining these ceremonies. The committee led by Khun Khunlert Phokharak helped to renovate the shrine and villagers donated money to buy some 6 lands. In 1957, 5 administrative committees established Thep Rasi Foundation in 1958. Later, this shrine was developed from zinc roof to big concrete building comfortable for people coming to make merit also.
