Khun Songkran Issara, the developer has prepared the site for the coming F1 Powerboat Grand Prix to be organized in front of Cape Panwa (east side) during March 11-13, 2005 . It is the first time that Thailand has been selected as venue for such spectacular sport which can draw as many as 70,000 spectators (from the organizer's record). .

Sri Panwa site happens to be one of the best spots for spectators. From Sri Panwa site the race can be viewed with the comfort of being at home. Where else could you watch F1 if not from your own pool deck?
F1 Powerboat Grand Prix is organized under UIM (International Power boating Association ). What is F1 Powerboat? Its short definition are :-
* 220 Km/h on water (without brake!)
* 350 bhp at 9,500 r.p.m. (to propel
500 kgs. Plywood catamaran)
* 0 to 100 Km./h in 3.5 seconds!

The race is organized on several locations around the world each year. Locations are hand picked by the geographic quality (stretch of water surrounded by scenic attractions) in places with adequate infrastructures. The 45 minutes race circuit is usually involved 60 laps of 2.5 Km. course.
Starting with qualifying period (like F1 Grand Prix) which decides formation of the subsequent race classifications.

The sport is regarded as adrenalin sport which its popularity grows worldwide for many reasons. Nicolo di San Germano, UIM F1 Promoter gave a few remarks:-
"Simply. incredibly spectacular, it is international with participants from 14 different countries, it is free for thousands of spectators and it is covered throughout the globe on many prominent TV. Everybody involved in the organization has a real passion for the sport. Our pilots are 100% committed they literally fly across the water at speeds in excess of 140 mph. to have a chance of standing on the podium in their sponsors colors and national flags."

Another upcoming annual international event is the Phuket King's Cup Regatta during December 5-11, 2004 . The regatta is joined by 80 plus sail boats from around the world combining with social functions throughout the week. The race this year to be held for the 18th consecutive year to celebrate the King's birthday which is on December 5. The week will be joined by thousand participants including sponsors, medias and spectators. There will also be Phuket International Boat Show at the Boat Lagoon marina starting on December 9,2004 .
