A self interest in wood work as well as the aesthetic blending of Thai and Chinese art has influenced the enchanted antique decoration Dr. Panachai Karnkorkul’s has used in his home. We are proud to showcase it here. |
“I really enjoy collecting wooden handicrafts and rare trees, so you will see these influences throughout my decoration”
Adjacent to the dining area, a set of tiny aesthetic chairs surround an ancient Thai table and ornament. Carefully sculptured they emanate poise, inviting would be guests to take life a bit slower, and find time out to appreciate Thai wisdom.
A spacious living area is ideal for entertaining. A Chinese work bench is set adjacent to the seated area and the room benefits from full height windows which allow and optimise the natural light.
The corner area is inspired by the owner’s Chinese tea mania and is ideal for a small traditional gathering.
From the priceless pearl, marble and wooden tea table set, to the jade tree accompanying it, Chinese traditions abound here. God images and statues which are set upon a beautifully carved wooden show case create an appealing atmosphere. Items have been collected over a prolonged period: from time to time; from place to place; from piece to piece. Some items are original designs of the owner, whilst others are gifts. Regarding décor remember one adage - ‘do it with love’. |

The Jade tree chosen as the queen of the corner has a definition of its own; green leaves represent peace, golden leaves represent wealth, deep blue-violet leaves represent supremacy, and the stone base represents solidity. Combined they symbolise a well founded life, richness and serenity.
The living area has been enlivened with a large vivid elephant painting donated to the owner as a gift from a foreign friend.
