Phuket Weather & Climate

Phuket is setting very close to the equator, influenced by the two monsoon winds that traverse the island; those are the Northeast and the Southwest, thus making it has a tropical monsoon. The temperatures tend to be consistent all year round ranging from 25°C to 33°C. Unlike the other parts of Thailand, Phuket has only two seasons, hot and hotter, just kidding! Actually, they are hot and rainy

Hot Season

Phuket’s hot season or ‘high season’ for tourism industries, counted from December lasts to April, the temperatures range from 27°C to 36°C. Fortunately, Phuket boasts gorgeous weather during the European winter, weather in Phuket is at its best and not so humid, making it a perfect time to enjoy sunbathing, take a walk along the beach, spend an hour in the sea or on parachuting etc. However, there may be an occasional shower, but these usually taking a short time.

Visiting Phuket in high season in Phuket at the same time means prices are getting higher and crowded around popular tourist attractions.

There are many events occur on this season, the most important is traditional Thai New Year called Songkran Day on April 13th when everyone enjoy sparkling water to each others on the hottest time of season. Another big event is sailing sport competition named Phuket King’s Cup Regatta, will be held around December depending on the wind

Rainy Season

Phuket rainy season or ‘green season’ for tourism industries, influenced by the Southwest monsoon wind bringing the rain to Phuket. The rainy season for Phuket falls into May to October with the highest rainfall comes in May, September and October. These three months are not the ideal time to visit if you want sun or outdoor activities. However, June, July and August are probably good months to visit.

During the monsoon doesn’t mean it rains everyday, there is an opportunity to see sunshine though. Yet, low season or green season also means lots of great deals offer either on accommodation, tour or shopping bargains. Further with less crowds at places unlike in the high season.
