| Phuket Municipality throw over 260 million budget to reconstruct a public fresh market-1 on Ranong Road recompensed an old one which more 49 years over and expected this public fresh market will be finished within a mid year of 2008.
Phuket mayor, Miss Somjai Suwansuppana revealed to the construction of a public fresh market-1 or “Bann Sann” market on Ranong Road which has used for 49 years over. Now it is very in a state of disrepair with there are many retails and wholesales such as Seven-Eleven, Macro or Big C have a role in the economic growth so they are really an affectation for a fresh market.
For good looking and cleaning of a new fresh market under the more competition condition, Phuket Municipality with Fresh market Association1 gather to construct a new public fresh market-1 and on last 16 June 2006, Phuket Municipality conferred with all 342 fresh market-1 shops and commercial building shops 27 people agreed to:
The public fresh market-1 has 4 floors 590 spaces, 1st floor and 2nd floor is for sale, 3rd-4th floor is a car park. There are commercial building 27 stalls 3½ floors comprised of stairs, car park, carriage lift, garbage area, garbage prevent and gathering. Besides the structure, spaces and commercial building through a modern & convenient public utility and on the 4th floor will be a place for install “Por Tor Kong” (Chinese God) for all shops and people respect.
A public fresh market-1 construction spends of 215 million baht and Phuket Municipality adds more15 million baht budget to build a temporary fresh market. A total is 230 million baht. In during of a construction will spend time for 1 year 6 months that Phuket Municipality has to pay an interest from loaning for 28.4 million baht. So an expense in the beginning is 260 million baht. In this construction will have 2 investors: 52% is Phuket Municipality and shopkeepers both fresh market and commercial building is 48%. In this meantime all shops will move to a temporary fresh market which is opposite Suan Luang Rama IX, Wirathongyok Road. And they will move in January 2007.
The mayor adds more detail that a new public fresh market-1 construction project is proud for all of Phuketian and it is an authentic local investment also.
