| There were fishermen over 60 houses which trespassed on the area around public roads at Soi Prabaramee 8, Patong Municipality, Kathu, Phuket to build their house. The land belonged to private company. He donated it for the official to make the road.
The trespassers said that they had lived here for a long time. At first, they built their house below. Later, they were asked to move to their present home. The land owner told them that he did not want the land no more after they had built their house for a while. After that the land owner requested the related official to charge the villagers. Moreover, he added the officials should start to make the road now.
The problem had been solved for many times. Recently, Mr. Niwit Arunrat, assistant Phuket provincial officer, and the related official such as Patong Municipality, Sheriff of Kathu, Kathu Lands Office and Provincial Land Reform Office held the meeting to find the way of solving this problem.
According to examination of the land document, it showed that this land was donated to make a road absolutely. Therefore, the villagers’ houses were pulled down. The provincial government ordered the staff to remove all houses before June 1, 2006; however, the progress of demolition did not finish. Therefore, the demolition was set again on June 19. Before pulling down their houses, the official would inform people at here to keep value treasures.
The staff told the villagers that if they removed their houses by themselves, they would be charged. However, if the official made a remove by himself, he would charge the trespassers. Moreover, the villagers had to pay money for demolition also. He would post a notice at here on June 15, 2006.
If people did not follow his order on June 19, their houses would be removed by the official immediately. Now there were 30 houses that be pulled down. The rest was removed on June 1 for 20 houses. These houses belonged to capitalists who trespassed here to built rental homes.
