| On 5th June, 1.30 PM. Mr. Niran Kanlayanimit, Vice-Phuket Governor is a chairman in “Support the relation forming conference Phuket-Ien Tai” and “Kun Ming –Chen Tu-Shanghai marketing support” in during 11-18 June,2006 and led by Mr. Patpong Eakwanich: President of Phuket Tourist Association, Mr. Sombat Atiset: President of the Federation of Phuket Provincial, tourism club and all of concerned official units join with the conference at Phuket Provincial Operation Center conference room.
Mr. Niran said that the “Support the relation forming conference Phuket-Ien Tai” project to tighten a relation between Thailand and People's Republic of China (PRC). And Phuket Provincial Municipality will sign a contract, MOU between Phuket Municipality, Thailand and Ien Tai, China. Besides, we will consider in tourism, trade, investment and cultural education.
For a project of “Kun Ming –Chen Tu-Shanghai marketing support”, we will open the directly flights to Kun Ming, Chen Tu and Shanghai to activate tourists come to Phuket in low season.
In 2004, Chinese tourists have come to Thailand 119,384 millions people. After that in 2005 there were 51,075 tourists so it decreased 57.22% and in 2006 the Chinese tourists came in Thailand in the first three months (January-March 2006) 60,822 people.
