| Thailand's southern resort island of Phuket looks poised to get a new marina costing over Bt1 billion in the Ao Chalong area, Phuket Governor Udomsak Assawarangura revealed yesterday.
Mr. Udomsak, who recently met the representatives of a foreign company wishing to develop the marina, said that the Ao Chalong development would meet the needs of the island, which is keen to upgrade its tourism potential, particularly since suffering damage during the December tsunami.
Costing over Bt1 billion, the new Ao Chalong marina and residential project will ensure easy access for boats.
The land will be leased by the provincial authority for a period of 30-60 years.
