| Norway has thanked Thailand for helping its nationals caught up in last December's tsunami, Public Health Minster Suchai Charoenratanakul told TNA on Thursday.
Dr. Suchai met his Norwegian counterpart at the health conference on tsunami relief, co-hosted by Thailand and the World Health Organisation (WHO) in the Thai kingdom's southern resort island of Phuket.
The Norwegian government was impressed with the treatment Thai medical personnel and people offered its nationals during the crisis, the public health minister told reporters before he left the conference for Bangkok.
The Norwegian minister also thanked Thailand for identifying the bodies of its nationals killed in the tsunami.
''There were 80 Norwegian deaths and most of the bodies were sent home to their families after DNA tests confirmed their identities,'' he said.
Eight bodies believed to be Norwegians have not yet been identified.
Their family members have already arrived to Thailand to help with DNA tests, the public
health minister said.
